December 5, 2017 -  City Staff will be proposing formal approval of the Overhead Sanitary Sewer Backup Protection Grant program by the City Council. The proposed program would be a matching grant program and would have several eligibility qualifications. For additional information, click here.

November 14, 2017 - Governor Rauner announced the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) approved the state’s request for assistance to help people and businesses in northeastern Illinois recover from severe storms and floods that occurred July 11-27, 2017.

October 17, 2017 - A presentation to the City Council was given by staff about a proposed City-wide Overhead Sewer Matching Grant Program. City Council was in favor of moving this program forward.

September 1, 2017 Watershed Permits Process Enhancements –  Many of the residents during the Open Houses voiced concerns about allowing additional home improvements or new homes in their neighborhoods.  The concern being that additional impervious coverage appears to exacerbate the flooding that the existing homes experience during severe rain events.  Staff has researched City ordinances and is identifying ways to improve current permit practices and engineering requirements. In addition, staff is researching how other communities with established neighborhoods built without stormwater conveyance systems permit additional impervious area.
