Impaired Driving

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation's 2016 traffic data, 1084 persons in the State of Illinois lost their lives in traffic related crashes. It is also the highest increase in traffic crashes and traffic crash related fatalities since 2007. Please come learn how to help stop this epidemic. “Coffee with the Chief” provides residents with an opportunity to personally meet with Chief James Black and other Police Department staff in a friendly, casual and informal setting. Residents learn about current crime-related topics and have the opportunity to discuss other community matters of interest.  "Coffee with the Chief" events occur on a quarterly basis.  The events are typically an hour in length and are hosted at the Crystal Lake City Hall, 100 West Woodstock Street.  These events are also posted on our Nixle and Facebook sites.  

Previous "Coffee with the Chief" topics have included: The dangers and criminal aspects of “Sexting” and “Cyber Bullying”,   Criminal aspects of  Gypsy Scams, Ruse Burglaries, and Home Repair Fraud;Overview of illicit drug use by high school-aged students; Educational seminar on Crime Prevention through Environmental Design; a general overview of the Police Department; and Cyber threats and security.
