Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responds to Residential Fire in Unincorporated Crystal Lake

On December 25, 2017 at 12:14 PM, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded to the report of a residential structure on fire at 6003 Chestnut Lane in unincorporated Crystal Lake. An occupant of the residence called 911.  The first units to arrive on the scene at 12:21 PM found smoke coming from the bathroom at the back of the residence. The fire appears to have originated in the crawl space beneath the master bathroom. The fire was deemed extinguished at 12:44 PM.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries at the scene. Total amount of damage is estimated to be in excess of $20,000. The McHenry County Planning and Development Department responded to the scene and deemed the structure uninhabitable until repairs are made. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Additional units from Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District, McHenry Township Fire Protection District, Nunda Rural Fire Protection District, and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene and with the investigation.
